Digitalquill believe in being good neighbours, and we are acutely aware of the impact that a business like ours has on the planet. We are a green and ethical technology business who act to reduce or balance our carbon footprint through a carbon offsetting scheme by planting trees.
By doing this, we balance the carbon produced by our office, servers and travel – although we work all over the globe we limit air travel by doing as much of our work as possible remotely – and when an engineer does need to travel we offset each journey.
Our founder Matt’s first business was growing trees – and they are now standing strong and growing into mighty forests, in East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We continue to this day to ensure a sustainable future for our children and grandchildren through our approach to doing business in a sustainable way.
We operate our business on a paperless basis – other than documentation which has to be printed for financial records, we do not use paper. Modern technology allows documents to be viewed on screen and shared over the internet.
We have helped many companies reduce their reliance on paper through our document management systems which reduce the amount of costly printing and postage.
The carbon footprint of the internet has been estimated as 300 million tonnes of CO2 per year. That is the equivalent of every single UK citizen flying across the Atlantic and back – twice!
