Wedding Disco Booked

After a long search we have booked the disco for the wedding. It really is a hit and miss affair as there is no real way of telling what they are like, however this guy seems to be professional enough, and he was recommended on a forum, so we have gone with him.

Another thing off the list!

I Have Found The Dress!

After visiting several dress shops My Mum and I made an appointment at The Ivory Bridal Lounge in Barton. I tried on about 6 dresses I liked and eventually whittled it down to two.

I decided on the first dress I tried on there. It will take about 20 weeks to come.

Can’t wait to wear it!

Wedding Rings Bought

We went on a shopping trip into Hull yesterday and managed to get both of our wedding rings. They are on order and will be ready in 2 weeks.

All we need to do now is make sure we keep them safe for the next 6 months!

Accommodation booked for the men

We have booked a nice little cottage in Worton near Askrigg, for the Friday night so we now have a place for the men to stay, which was beginning to cause us some worry.

We have been trying to find somewhere for several months and were beginning to think that it was not possible. The impact of the bank holiday weekend meant that booking many bed and breakfasts was out as they wanted a 3 night minimum booking, and cottages that either doa  week let Friday to Friday or a short stay over the bank holiday are few and far between.

With a little help from one of our bridesmaids and our best man, we have found a gem of a cottage that will allow us to take a short 3 day let.

It also has a bed and breakfast close by owned by the same people, so if anyone is looking for accommodation who can’t get into Simonstone that is a possibility.

Honeymoon booked

We have managed to book our honeymoon starting on the Sunday following our wedding. Hopefully it will, be rather warm so we can catch some sun.

We are going to a honeypot, but hopefully it will not be too busy with tourists at that time of year. Either way we will have a relaxing time to start our married life.

Save the date cards sent out

We are sending our ‘Save the date’ cards out along with Chriistmas cards this year. We had wanted to get them out earlier this year, however time and events have overtaken us.

We hope that 8 months will be enough time to ensure that everyone special to us will be able to plan the date into their diaries.

We have made the cards ourselves to add that little personal touch, formal invites will be sent out nearer to the date, and we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday 29th August 2009

Wedding Ceremony Pack

We have received the wedding ceremony pack and notification from North Yorkshire District Registry Offices that they have received our notification of intent to marry.

We spent some time yesterday reading through the pack, looking at the different vows and verses that you can choose for the ceremony. It is quite a good booklet, everything has been considered, with questions such as “Do you want the Bride and Groom to be interviewed separately before the wedding?” this was something that we definately wanted, keeping it as traditional as possible.

It allows for us to put several readings into the ceremony, so we have been thinking what and who we would like to do some readings.

We do not have to complete the pack until four weeks before the wedding so we have plenty of time to mull things over.

Intent to Marry Registered

We have registered our intent to marry with our local Registry office, which we have to do as we are getting married in a county/region in which we do not reside.

We were asked a lot of challenging questions like “Whats your name?” and “How old are you?” Matthew struggled with both…!

No on a serious note it did make things real for us, not that it was not serious before it was just the feeling that things are now really underway.

We celebrated by having a Pizza for lunch and having a nice talk and got a few more things planned for the day. Eva spent the afternoon playing with Nanna and Gramps so she did not miss us!

Suggest a song for our Disco

We have started a song list for tracks that we want played at the disco. We want this not only to be our choices but also the choices of our guests, so if you have any requests please post a comment and let us know, we will add them to the list (after our strict no-rubbish moderation process!)

Why Simonstone Hall?

We thought that we would write a little about Simonstone Hall, which is the place we have chosen for our wedding.

On the August Bank Holiday weekend of 2007 Matthew proposed to Cheryl at Aysgarth Falls, we then stayed at Simonstone Hall in Hawes. It was a magical weekend, Simonstone was just perfect. Stunning views, elegant rooms, perfect food and friendly staff.

We then re-visited Simonstone Hall on the first anniversary of our engagement and none of the memories we had of the place were wrong.

Simonstone has therefore become a special place for us and we are so happy that we will be able to celebrate our wedding there in a year’s time.
